December 13 2017 Announcements

The Birth of Jesus (I will keep adding to this until verse 20))
In those days, Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world,  This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria and everyone went to his own town to register.  So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.  She wrapped him in cloths and place him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you: he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you.  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”  Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on who his favor rests. When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God, for all the things they had heard and seen which were just as they had been told.

And this is why we celebrate Christmas.  This baby that was born, and then died for all of us.  Merry Christmas and remember, Jesus is why we celebrate Christmas.

Things you need to know:
Mrs. Townsend will be offering a SMART lunch during 2nd lunch today if you need a place to go.

Off-season workouts with Coach Pondo for ALL male athletes in 6th-12th grades not currently playing a sport will begin after Christmas break on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. More information can be found on the Athletic Announcements blog. Please contact Coach Pondo with any questions.


When you get back from Christmas break, your schedules will be different.  Make sure you look over your schedule during Christmas break so you know what classes you will have and where you need to go on Jan 3.


VENTURE CLUB:  Slip Sliding Away.......Join us for ice skating in UPTOWN CHARLOTTE on December 15th. (Final day of exams)  Flyer info.sheet outside of Mrs. McFarland's door. Deadline to sign-up is Dec. 12 (Tuesday).  See Mrs. Smith or Mrs. McFarland for any questions you may have.

Things you need to know:
ATTENTION NJHS & NHS MEMBERS
Tomorrow is the last day to bring in items for the two families we’ve adopted for Christmas. For these families the excessive gift giving and receiving most of us experience is not a reality.  We have an extraordinary opportunity to be a blessing to families who when asked only requested things of necessity and one or two items that were not necessities.  I can only imagine what joy these gifts will bring these families on Christmas morning.
Please consider participating in this service project if you have not done so and a BIG THANKS to you who have already done so.

At this point we only have about 8% participation and NEED several more items.

There is a sign up sheet on classroom if you need to know what is still available.
If you choose to buy something please put your name on the sign up sheet so we don’t have duplicates.

Remember a gift receipt is always nice if they need to exchange something.

REMEMBER you can go into together if you wish to do so.

The cafeteria is closed today.  You will need to eat outside or in a classroom.  You will still have SMART lunch.  You may not leave campus to buy lunch.
