Rho Kappa: Meeting this Thursday 2nd lunch in rooms 1111-1112
Tomorrow and Friday, Mr. Hamilton will be having a meeting with each grade level. Here are how the meetings will go:
Thursday Oct 5:
- 1st lunch 9th grade
- 2nd grade 10th grade
Friday, Oct 6:
- 1st lunch 11th grade
- 2nd lunch 12th grade

NJHS & NHS
Today I would like to meet with ALL students who applied for NJHS & NHS during 1st SMART lunch in my room.
This meeting is to inform you of some very important information.
NHS MEMBERS
There is NO Meeting today for Jr. & Sr members of NHS because I need to meet with the applicants/inductees today.
There will be a short meeting for all girls interested in playing Varsity Softball on Wednesday, October 4th at 2:35pm in the FLC lobby. Voluntary workouts for Varsity Softball will begin Wednesday, October 11th, and all girls interested in playing this spring are encouraged to participate.
Mandatory for all Middle School and High School students who will be signing up for the Middle School and High School Swim Teams:
Suit Fitting and the Swim Team Apparel Order Form will be handed out during all lunches on October 4, Wednesday.
A table will be set up in front of the lunch room. Do not miss receiving important information about ordering what you need for the swim team this year and being fitted for a team swim suit.
Venture Club Meeting Thursday 1st lunch. Info. about our first trip of the year to----GLEAN A FIELD OF SWEET POTATOES -- JOIN IN ON THE FUN AND GAIN A NEW LIFE EXPERIENCE. Come to Mrs. McFarland's room 1st lunch. Be a "Sweet Tater" and join us!!!!
FRIDAY SMART LUNCH: Performing Arts Lunch Performance
WHO: HGC Dance Company, Choir, and Concert Band
WHAT: Performing Arts Lunch Performance
WHERE: The Chapel (aka the band room)
WHEN: Offered both SMART lunch sessions - choose one or stay for both! (Friday Oct 6)
WHY: For your enjoyment!! Bring your lunch and enjoy the show!
HOW: A sign in sheet will be located at the door for SMART lunch attendance.
Spirit Night – Pelican’s Snowballs
Join your HGCS family at Pelican’s Snowballs, 8009 Fairview Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227 on Thursday, October 5th from 1pm – 8pm for Spirit Night. Menu options begin with $2 Kiddie cup, to $5 Avalanche. There’s even a “Pup Cup”, for dog’s only of course. HGCS receives a portion of all proceeds for the evening’s purchases.

Charging Station: Is available in the high school office.
- First use no consequence
- Second use lunch detention assigned
- Third use lunch detention assigned
- Fourth and above after school detention assigned
- Consistently forgetting to bring chromebook fully charged to school may result in more severe
- Consequences.

Winter Sport Sign-Ups
Sign-ups for winter sports will be held next week (October 2-6) in the high school office, middle school hallway, and online. Please look for the sign-up link in next week's announcements. Tryouts for winter sports will be held the week of October 30th. Students must turn in all athletic forms (Athletic Physical Form, Athletic Participation Agreement, Athletic Medical Forms Packet) by the first day of tryouts in order to participate. Winter sports include MS Girls' Basketball, Varsity Women's Basketball, MS Boys' Basketball, JV Boys' Basketball, Varsity Men's Basketball, and Varsity Men's & Women's Swimming.
